Cardiology

In the Cardiology Clinic we perform specialist visits, echocardiography, cardiac and blood pressure holter, ECG, exercise test on the cycle ergometer or treadmill.

In the Sports Medicine Clinic, specialist visits are carried out to issue certificates of suitability for competitive and non-competitive sporting activities.

Primary Prevention

The specialist examination of the cardiovascular system is the essential basis for those who want to delve deeper into the state of health of the heart and has the aim of preventing, diagnosing and treating cardiac pathologies.

The cardiological examination allows you to analyze the nature and origin of different types of symptoms and disorders, evaluate possible risk factors (for example obesity, overweight, diabetes) and play a primary role in the prevention of heart attacks and cardiovascular diseases.

The cardiological examination is integrated with the electrocardiogram (ECG), a test that graphically reproduces the electrical activity of the heart during its functioning. Our Cardiology Clinic is also equipped with a latest generation EcoCardioColorDoppler capable of carrying out three-dimensional ultrasound scans of the heart.

We also perform dynamic ECGs according to Holter and stress tests (ergometric) with a cycle ergometer and treadmill.

For a complete analysis of the cardiac organ, the Clinic of Cardiology collaborates in synergy with other medical services:

01

Diagnostic Imaging service provides Coronary CT for coronary artery evaluation and Cardiac Cine MRI for heart muscle motion analysis.

02

The ENT medical service for the evaluation of sleep disorders, since they can cause serious heart disease.

How To Do Primary And Secondary Prevention Of Cardiovascular Diseases?

There are two main types of prevention. The expression "primary prevention" means the identification of interventions and behaviors capable of avoiding (or reducing) the onset and development of the disease. The expression "secondary prevention" means the identification of an early diagnosis of the disease which allows us to intervene in advance, but not to avoid or reduce it.

The key diagnostic tests for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases

Cardiological examination + ECG + Echocardiogram with or without stress test.

Heart CT scan for calcium score (CT calcium score) without contrast medium. The test is useful for patients with important risk factors and for asymptomatic diabetics as it allows the assessment of individual risk by calculating the concentration of coronary calcium.

Coronary CT scan (CT) in suspected coronary artery disease, in pathologies of the aorta, in critical stenosis of the carotid arteries and in stenosis of the renal arteries. Useful tests for patients with severe hypertension that is difficult to treat.

Key Symptoms to Be Aware Of

○ Chest pain

○ Labored breathing

○ Palpitations, or more generally feeling of weakness and fainting

○ Arrhythmia

○ Tachycardia

○ Extrasystole.

Major Cardiovascular Conditions

○ Arterial hypertension

○ Ischemic heart disease

○ Cardiocirculatory failure

○ Cardiomyopathies

○ Heart valve diseases

○ Patients with prosthetic valves

Specialized Care for Athletes: The Sports Medicine Clinic

Your passport to play sports safely.

Sports Medicine deals with the clinical problems of those who practice sport and exercise. The task of the Sports Doctor is to evaluate the health status of the patients' cardiovascular system and certify their suitability for practicing competitive and non-competitive sports.

The Sports Medicine Clinic has equipment for stress tests, cardiac Holter and blood pressure tests. The certification obtained from the successful outcome of these tests allows the patient to be able to practice sports in complete safety.
